HOW HAEMATINIC SYRUP OF IRON, FOLIC ACID & VITAMIN B12 WORKS
Haematinic Syrup of Iron, Folic Acid & Vitamin B12 is combination drug containing Ferric Ammonium Citrate, Folic Acid and Vitamin B12. Ferric ammonium citrate exerts haematinic action by being an essential constituent of haemoglobin. Folic acid is converted to tetrahydro folic acid and methyl tetrahydrofolate by dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR). It plays a vital role in the formation of red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body. It is also essential in pregnancy due to its role in the development of the unborn baby’s brain and spinal cord. Vitamin B12 works by functioning in the production of a compound called myelin which covers and protects fibres.
