Metformin Tablets

Metformin is an antihyperglycemic agent of the biguanide class used in conjunction with diet and exercise for glycaemic control in type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Metformin tablets is mainly used to helps in controlling blood sugar levels. It is also used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It sometimes used together with insulin or other medications, but it is not for treating type 1 diabetes. It is also used off-label to treat polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Metformin reduces liver production of glucose, decreases the intestinal absorption of glucose, and enhances insulin sensitivity by increasing both peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.
