Cloxacillin Dry Syrup

Cloxacillin is penicillin type antibiotic. Cloxacillin is a semisynthetic antibiotic used against staphylococci.

Cloxacillin is used for the treatment of beta-homolytic streptococcal and pneumococcal infections as well as staphylococcal infections. It is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections.

Cloxacillin inhibits cell wall synthesis due to bactericidal action. It binds to one of the penicillin binding proteins (PBPs) causing inhibition the final stage of synthesis of bacterial cell wall, thus inhibiting biosynthesis and arresting cell wall assembly resulting in bacterial cell death.
