Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum second-generation tetracycline antibiotic which is used for treatment of bacterial and certain parasites infections.

Doxycycline is used to treat chest infections, dental infections, skin infections, malaria, bacterial pneumonia, acne, Lyme disease, cholera, typhus and syphilis.

Doxycycline is from a group of medicines called tetracycline antibiotics are mainly bacteriostatic i.e.; capable of inhibiting the growth or reproduction of bacteria. These antibiotics kill bacteria by stopping them from making the proteins that they need to survive.
